What is PRP Restoration?

What is PRP Restoration?

Do you feel a little less satisfied every time you look in the mirror? Perhaps your skin shows signs of rapid aging or your hair is thinning and quickly disappearing. Maybe you have stretch marks on your skin that you just can’t eliminate. At White Lotus Medical Spa, we understand it can feel discouraging to see these things when you work hard to maintain your appearance. The good news is that treatment with platelet rich plasma (PRP) can correct these issues by using the growth factors in your blood.

The Power of Platelet Rich Plasma

Every person has serum and red blood cells in their skin that contain platelets and white blood cells. Most people are unaware of the incredible restoration power of platelets when it comes to treating conditions associated with the skin. PRP helps to hydrate and oxidate the skin as well as produce greater amounts of collagen and elastin.

The best part is that you don’t run the risk of infection or rejection since the PRP comes from your own body. An outpatient procedure using PRP is faster, requires a shorter healing time and costs less than undergoing plastic surgery in a hospital. PRP, along with laser hair removal, is one of our most commonly requested services.

What to Expect During and After the Procedure

To start the process, your provider obtains a small blood sample from your arm. The next step is to transfer the blood into a device called a centrifuge. This piece of equipment spins the blood and separates the platelets that we use for your treatment. Your provider then re-injects the PRP into your face or another area of treatment using a micro-needle. This helps to minimize discomfort.

Your face or other treated area will remain red for up to 48 hours after the procedure. You should take care to use sun protection if you must go outdoors during the recovery time. Some patients also experience slight discomfort from bruising. Applying an ice pack or using a non-prescription pain reliever is typically all you need to do to speed healing time. You should start to see results from the procedure within several days.

Are You a Good Candidate for Treatment with PRP?

As stated above, PRP is an excellent alternative for people who want to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, re-grow their hair or cover stretch marks. It’s also appropriate for those who want to disguise sun damage or desire a more even skin tone. However, you should not seek this treatment if you have a history of clotting or bleeding disorders.

White Lotus Medical Spa would be happy to answer any additional questions you have about this procedure. Please contact us at your convenience to book your complimentary PRP consultation or schedule your next appointment here.
